New Clairvaux Vineyard is a unique winery destination. With one of the world’s most distinguished winemaking histories, the Abbey grounds now serve as home to Trappist-Cistercian monks. During your visit we encourage you to stop by some other key places around the property. Welcome Center & Bookstore/Gift shop, open daily 9:30 am – 4:15 pm. The Abbey Church, open for self-guided tours Monday-Saturday from 2:30pm-5:00pm. We invite you to experience some of our award winning wines, the warmth of our hospitality, and the history of this amazing place in person!

The Abbey Grounds

In order to maintain reverence for the brothers and our guests we ask that you kindly acknowledge the following:

  • No commercial photography unless approved. Please call (530) 839-9936.
  • All picnicking is limited to overnight guests only.
  • We love pets but only accept ADA certified aid dogs.
  • For your safety and well being, the working areas of the Ranch are limited to Abbey employees. This includes tractor sheds, refueling stations and barns.
  • Only non-alcoholic beverages are permitted outside the winery tasting room.

Directions from I-5

From Interstate 5 in Corning
Exit South Avenue (head east)
Turn left on Rowles Rd.
Turn left on 7th St, cross railroad tracks and look for the cross

Directions from Highway 99

Vina is located about 20 miles North of Chico and 20 miles South of Red Bluff.
Heading North: Take a left turn on Vina Road, after the Lassen Steakhouse.
Heading South: Take a right turn onto Vina Road, before the Lassen Steakhouse.
Vina Road will bend on the corner of Vina Elementary and turn into 7th Street.
Proceed on 7th Street and ahead you will see the White Cross, which marks the entrance to the Abbey.

How much is the tasting fee?

The tasting fee is $10 per person for a flight of 5 wines. One tasting fee is waived per bottle purchased.

What benefits do wine Club Members receive?

3 bottles of New Clairvaux or Aimée Sunseri made wines four times a year.

A 15% discount on current release wines, including Wine Club shipments and purchases at the winery.

Invitations to exclusive events.

Complimentary tastings for you and up to 3 guests.

Opportunity to save on shipping costs by simply picking up your wines at New Clairvaux’s Tasting Room before the shipment release date. (E-mail notices will be sent one month in advance).

NO membership fees or cancellation fees.

Do you ship wines?

Yes, we ship wines nationwide, with the exception of the following states: Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota and Utah. 

Alabama we can only ship directly to an ABC store. 

What if I have a large group?

We’re happy to accommodate groups. We just ask that you call the winery to let us know the date, time and number of guests.

Do you allow dogs?

We love pets, but only allow accepted ADA-certified aid dogs.

Do you allow picnics or weddings?

All picnics are limited to overnight guests on retreat at the Abbey. Weddings are not permitted at the Abbey. 

Do the monks make the wine?

Yes, the monks are involved in all aspects of the winemaking process — from harvest to bottle. They even work in the tasting room on Saturdays, release weekends and special events.

Can you explain the partnership between the monks and the Sunseri family?

The winery is a joint partnership between the Abbey and the Sunseri family. The Sunseri family has longtime roots in the Napa Valley wine industry. Daughter Aimee Sunseri is the winemaker at New Clairvaux Vineyard.

Are there any areas off limit at the Abbey?

Only the monks are permitted behind the cloister gates and fence. We also ask that guests not walk through the retreatants area. 

Are children allowed at the Abbey and winery?

We love kids. Children are allowed in the tasting room and on the Abbey grounds. We do ask that children be accompanied by an adult while touring the Abbey.

Can we open wine to drink at the Abbey?

Only non-alcoholic beverages are permitted outside the winery tasting areas.

Can I take photos at the abbey?

We welcome you to take and share your pictures taken at the Abbey. However, no commercial photography is allowed unless approved. Please call (530) 839-2434.
