What started out as a story of winemaking in the documentary "The Monks of Vina" ended up being a look into the lives of men who have dedicated themselves to monastic life. With the challenging wine harvest of 2012 as the backdrop, the film explores the rituals and curiosities of monastic life. Along the way, the monks' faith is tested, especially among the new arrivals who recently relinquished all worldly possessions and took a vow of poverty, obedience and chastity. Lifting the veil on the spiritual side of winemaking, THE MONKS OF VINA reveals the extreme sacrifice and devotion required in a quest to become closer to God.
